AECP: For the Guys

 Hello crafty friends!

It’s been a looooong time since I’ve submitted any cards for AECP. I had been struggling a bit with coming up with a card design for my last few level one courses. I had been trying to force a design idea but it wasn’t working. So, I decided to take a break until something came to me naturally. Well last weekend I FINALLY got an idea.

Todays post centers around masculine cards. Masculine cards are the most difficult cards for me to design. I finished the For the Guys course back in NOVEMBER!!! And it took me until May to come up with these ideas. Below are the two card designs I came up with. I hope you they are both to your viewing pleasure lol.

Card One

For this card I went with a more abstract approach. I used acrylic paint from my stash for the red and white. I watered it down so that it was thin enough to do the splatting technique. For the gold, I used one the the gold pans from the Altenew metallic watercolor set. I also used this same paint to color the leaves with. To give the leaves a bit more dimension, I cut out three additional leaves and stacked them under each other. In hind sight I should have used black paper for the layers instead of white. Maybe next time!

Card Two

For this card I was going for an Art Deco look. First I took my card base and swiped on some versamark ink. Once I sprinkled on the gold embossing powder I took an old paint brush and brushed away some of the embossing powder until I had the faux bush stroke look. Once that was heat set, I arranged the circles on the paper. I used some circle dies from my stash for this. I then put the rest of the card together using some vellum, the biggest leafy image from the Zero Waste Leaf Pattern die, a gold foiled banner, and the happy birthday sentiment.
